FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When should I use a primer?

The goal of priming is to create a neutral surface of which to apply other coatings onto that will have the longest possible lifespan and the most aesthetic finish as desired.Montana Primers are for the pre-treatment and preperation of surfaces and will offer the greatest adhesion and protection to apply further coatings onto.

How will using Montana METAL PRIMER assist me?

Using Montana METAL PRIMER will create the best possible surface for adhession of further coatings and offers anti-oxidisation properties to help to resist and prevent the onset of rust. Using the METAL PRIMER will also make further applied coatings more scratch and dent resistant.

When do I use Montana METAL PRIMER?

Montana METAL PRIMER is specifically created for the pre-treatment of metal (iron or brass) or mineral surfaces before applying further coatings. It is very important that the surfaces are clean, dry and free of all dust and oils before application. We suggest trialing on a non-visible area of your material to test for compatibility. Please note the Metal Primer unsuitable for priming aluminum. Please use our ALUMINIUM Primer instead.

How do I start using my Montana METAL PRIMER?

Remove the spray nozzle and turn the can upside down. Strike with your palm allowing safety ring to fall out. Shake vigerously for 2-3 minutes ensuring you can hear the mixing balls moving freely. Replace the cap back onto the top of the can valve and trigger away from substrate to test. If flowing freely you can start painting.

Which coatings can apply over the METAL PRIMER?

You can apply any Montana-Cans color, tech or effect spray over the METAL PRIMER once it has dried.

How long does Montana Montana METAL PRIMER spray take to dry?

Complete drying time is usually 24hours however re-coating can occur after apx. 60 minutes.

Can I use other coutings on it other then sprays?

Yes. It is possible to use other coatings over METAL PRIMER spray once it is dry. We suggest always test on a non-visible are of the work for compatibility.
