FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Montana GRANIT 400ml spray and how does it work?
Montana GRANIT 400ml spray is a high covering water based special effect spray paint, that has mini colored plastic particles in it. Once sprayed to a substrate, the particles dry on the surface of the paint leaving a deceiving real granite effect. GRANIT 400ml spray is available in Light Grey, Grey, Brown and Black. Color shown by the donut on top of the can.
How do I start using my Montana GRANIT 400ml spray can?
Remove the plastic lid from the can and shake vigerously for 2-3 minutes ensuring you can hear the mixing balls moving freely. Trigger the can away from your substrate to test. If flowing freely you can start painting.
Which surfaces can I use my GRANIT 400ml spray on?
Montana GRANIT 400ml spray can be used on nearly any surfaces such as paper, cardboard, primed canvas, wood, glass, metal, ceramics, porcelain, stone, polystyrene and other paintable acrylic materials. Can be applied to polystyrene without primer.
How long does Montana GRANIT 400ml spray take to dry?
The drying time for Montana GRANIT 400ml spray varies depending on the substrate and the base coat under it, ambient temperature and levels of humidity. Generally it is possible to be dust dry after 60 mins, touch dry in 4 hours and cured after 24-48 hours. Please note due to its high water content, drying times are longer than normal coatings.
How far should I hold the can away from the substrate while painting?
Optimum distance from substrate is normally beween 15 and 25cm depending on your task. Thin, even layers are optimal, applying from left to right in a crossing over motion.
Can I paint over my GRANIT 400ml with other paints?
Yes. You can apply other paints such as Montana GOLD, Montana BLACK, Montana WHITE, Montana ACRYLIC markers as well as customary acrylic paints over the GRANIT 400ml spray once it is cured. Curing time is 24, or more hours.
Is my GRANIT 400ml spray waterproof when dry?
Only water-proof when sealed with a few coats of Montana Varnish or an alternative purpose made clear coat and a corresponding primer. Exposing uncured objects that are coated with GRANIT spray can lead to damage or opening of coated surfaces. We not recommend outdoor use.
Is my GRANIT 400ml spray durable?
The GRANIT spray is strong and durable considering its plastic particles when cured although it is an effect spray, and is not stone/granite based. To increase its longevity and durability we recommend thin, equal, multiple coats to be applied, ample curing time of 24hours or more. Clear coating once cured is necessary for outdoor use.
What kind of packaging materials can I use to transport / store my painted objects?
When transporting or storing painted objects, it's crucial to steer clear of air bubble wrap or similar packaging materials. These films may contain plasticizers that can gradually evaporate, resulting in unsightly marks or discoloration on the painted surface. Additionally, they can harbor silicone residues, oils, or fats from production, leading to imprints on the paint.
To safeguard your painted surfaces, it's advisable to utilize alternative packaging materials such as foam sheets, soft blankets, cardboard, or other suitable options. These alternatives provide effective protection without the risk of damaging the paintwork.
