Note: Always test beforehand, if surface/material is compatible!

Shake can vigorously for at least 3 minutes before use. Test spray and check paint compatibility on a non-visible spot. Apply RUST Effect in thin layers at a distance of 25cm and intervals of 2 minutes. To achieve a realistic finish, both Rust Effect colours should be sprayed together in spots. Combinable with Acrylic Markers and conventional acrylic paints. Can be over painted when fully dry and cured (after min. 24hours), with Montana GOLD, BLACK or WHITE. To increase the durability, Rust Effect can be sealed with Montana Tech Varnish Matt after drying. For optimal lifespan, store cans with the nozzle on.

Montana RUST EFFECT Spray 400ml is a high-pressure paint coating, that is applied to create the appearance of rust, oxidization, and aging on many surfaces. The Montana RUST EFFECT Spray 400ml is available in Orange Brown and Brown. Each color can be applied singularly if desired, or together in a stain-like appearance for a more organic rusty look. Color is shown by the donut on top of the can.

Montana RUST EFFECT Spray 400ml can be applied to many surfaces such as concrete, stone, metal, wood, walls, hard plastics, primed cardboard, and polystyrene. We recommend Montana Universal PRIMER for unprimed surfaces, Montana Plastic PRIMER for plastics, and Montana Polystyrene PRIMER for foam-based materials. Apply in thin even coats, in a sweeping motion from left to right. Repeat as desired and cross over from horizontal to a vertical application when applying multiple coats.

Shake the can vigorously for 3 minutes ensuring you can hear the mixing balls moving freely. Remove the clear plastic lid from the top of the can. Turn your can away from any objects (or into a test surface) and trigger the nozzle to test. If the paint is flowing freely, you can start painting.

Montana RUST EFFECT Spray 400ml can be used on many primed surfaces such as concrete, stone, metal, wood, walls, hard plastics, primed cardboard, and polystyrene, etc. Pre-priming with Montana Styrofoam PRIMER, Plastic PRIMER, or Universal PRIMER where applicable is required.

The drying time for Montana RUSTV EFFECT Spray 400ml varies depending on the substrate, coatings it is applied to, ambient temperature, and levels of humidity. Generally, it is possible to be touch-dry after 15-20 mins, dry in 6 hours and cured after 24 hours.

The best rust effects can be created when the can has been shaken for 3 mins, on pre-primed surfaces that are clean, dry, and free of dust and oils. Subject to the substrate surface and its original color, apply RUST EFFECT Spray in their single colors Orange Brown and Brown, or in a stained look to imitate real organic rust. To take the effect further, apply your favorite Montana GLITTER Spray or metallic pigments for a more metallic look.

Rust can only form on metal surfaces. When applied to other materials, the Montana RUST EFFECT Spray will only create the illusion of rust. When applied on metal, its application will add an extra layer of coating onto the surface, assisting in slowing down the onset of rust and oxidization.

Yes. As with real metal, rust may only occur on certain parts of a surface, subject to their exposure to water, salts, and oxygen. We suggest observing various metals in your surroundings for inspiration as to where, and how much rust usually occurs naturally.

Will the Montana RUST EFFECT Spray 400ml work with metallic colors?

Montana RUST EFFECT Spray 400ml will work over metallic colors short term however, the adhesion is not guaranteed long term, and the paint may detach from the substrate over time.

Optimum distance from substrate is normally 25cm depending on your task. Thin, even layers are optimal, applying from left to right in a sweeping motion.

Can I paint over my RUST EFFECT Spray 400ml with other paints?

Yes. You can apply other paints such as Montana GOLD, Montana BLACK, Montana WHITE, Montana ACRYLIC markers as well as customary acrylic paints over the RUSTB EFFECT Spray 400ml once it has had 24hours to cure.

When transporting or storing painted objects, it's crucial to steer clear of air bubble wrap or similar packaging materials. These films may contain plasticizers that can gradually evaporate, resulting in unsightly marks or discoloration on the painted surface. Additionally, they can harbor silicone residues, oils, or fats from production, leading to imprints on the paint.

To safeguard your painted surfaces, it's advisable to utilize alternative packaging materials such as foam sheets, soft blankets, cardboard, or other suitable options. These alternatives provide effective protection without the risk of damaging the paintwork.
